With its ability to transcend barriers, symphonic music holds lifelong relevancy regardless of an individual’s economic background, race, age, language, or ability to speak or read. We believe that EVERYONE deserves access to, enjoyment of, and meaningful experiences with music. The SMSO has the honor to provide quality, live music to its community since 1951.
Individual and institutional donors are critical to the success of our mission. On average, ticket sales, grant funding, and other sources of earned revenue covers only 40% of our costs, making charitable contributions a significant source of support.
Donor-Advised Funds
Donor-Advised Funds (DAF) allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction and then recommend grants from the fund over time. DAF Grants made to the SMSO can be designated in one of two ways:
for the SMSO to use wherever the need is greatest
for the SMSO to use for a specific thematic area that matches the donors’ interests, such as music education, musicians and guest artists, concert production, or other music programming.
Clients of BNY Mellon, Fidelity Charitable and Schwab Charitable can make a designation through the DAF Direct widget at right on this page.
The SMSO’s tax I.D. number is 38-6090138.
